1. Horsell Common
Walk through Horsell Common’s thousands of treetops, sheltered moorland and Bronze Age carts. Full of wildlife, dogs will enjoy roaming the 880 acres, taking in the sights, smells and squirrels of regular visitors!
2. Newlands Corner
Newlands Corner is a popular dog walking destination with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Surrey Hills has 255 acres of open chalk and peaceful woodland for dogs. The forest is mixed, with hardwoods such as oak and birch, but also evergreen yew – so many beautiful places to smell!
3. Chobham Common
This is a wonderful walk across the tall pine-topped moor of Chobham Common with an open section around the paddocks of the nearby green farms.
4. Virginia Water
Located on the edge of Windsor’s large park, enjoy a pleasant walk around the lake. Open all year round from morning to night. Parking costs £1.50 an hour. There is a cafe on site that sells hot food and drinks.
5. Frensham Ponds and Common
This delightful route takes you around the village of Frensham through moorland and woodland. Frensham Ponds and Common are located on either side of the A287 between Farnham and Hindhead.
6. Farnham Park
Dog lovers should pack a towel here! Farnham Park is a 320-acre medieval deer park overlooking the city. Teeth can paddle a winding stream, stick their noses into old oak trees and slog through muddy puddles.
7. Laleham Park
Laleham Park has a large open park where dogs can run freely and play fetch. There is also a river where children can feed the ducks, geese and swans. This is a great dog run for the whole family.
8. Headley Heath
Headley Heath is a colorful maze full of footpaths. There is something for everyone, from the Lizard Track to the 13km hike up Box Hill and then along the North Downs Way.
9. Painshill Park
Dogs on short leads can trot through 158 acres of North American wonderland filled with trees and shrubs. There are short or longer routes around Serpentine Lake.
10.Oxshott Woods
Oxshott Woods supports conifers and hardwoods and has several parking lots so dog walkers can choose where to start. Oxshott station is next to one of the car parks.
11. St. Martha’s Hill
Follow the dirt roads to the top of the church from either Guildford Lane or Halfpenny Lane car parks.Explore limestone meadows with historic features and spectacular views from the summit, where on a clear day you can see eight counties.
12. Staffhurst Woods
This ancient woodland has remained continuously wooded since Saxon times. The forests are a good mix of oak, ash and beech, as well as hornbeam and walnut forests. It also contains a very interesting forest pond. Located in the Tandridge area with Grants Lane car park.
13. Limpsfield Common
On Limpsfield Common, dogs can muddy and splash in the many puddles. Fallen trees are good for agility and sniffing. There are also plenty of bars to pick up along the way! The Greensands Way is a wonderful walk that passes through Limpsfield on the way from Haslemere in West Surrey to Ham Street in Kent.
14. Alice Holt Forest
Dogs can run free in certain areas of this beautiful forest. Great area for dog walking, some areas require them to be led due to children playing etc.
15. St. Anne’s Hill
An excellent view of the surrounding countryside is provided by this wooded hill. It has a wonderful nature trail with trees, plants, and flowers to explore as well as an ancient fort.There is a good sized area and tap for dogs..
