Dorney Lake

This is a great place for walking as the loch is bordered by the Thames Path on one side and the National Cycle Route on the other. So you can easily walk around the long lake or take a much longer route around it along one of these trails.

The route we like best starts at Dorney Village for you and the pup before making a big loop towards the lake and along the Thames Path. This particular trail is great because it’s long enough to tire you and the dog out, and they have a foot setup so they can be led.

Cow Pond

This is a short but exceptionally beautiful forest hike with a pond as a centerpiece. The pond itself is full of lilies and was extensively renovated for the Queen’s Jubilee when a footbridge and oak leaf were installed. Walking here is beautiful all year round and usually much quieter than other areas of the park.

This is a beautiful walk at any time of the year. Autumn brings with it the bright, flaming colors of Japanese maples, while the beginning of the year brings the smell and tone of witch hazel. At the same time, summer is the best time to admire the abundance of lilies in the pond.

Pup loves this walk in the woods, which is often quieter than the main Virginia Water facility across the lake. Take the path west of the lake, past the ruins of Leptis Magna and around the totem poles before following them as they move between the gardens and the polo field. When you cross the bridge, you will be back at your starting point and you will feel refreshed after a long walk in a wonderful natural environment.
